AOCs, DACs, AECs & ACCs

Direct Attach, Active Electrical, Active Copper, and Active Optical Cables are simple to install, cost-effective, and interoperable solutions for short-reach interconnects in AI cluster and data centers. These cables are terminated with transceiver-style connectors, so they can be used in the same ports as a typical SFP+ or QSFP transceiver, without the need for adapters or converters. Our DAC and AOC cables are compatible with a wide range of vendors, providing essential connectivity for Top of Rack and End of Row environments.

DACs are essential for in-rack connections in Al networks. Completely passive copper cables, DACs provide the lowest latency and lowest power connections between Al network components with a reach up to 3m in 800G applications. However, at the high speeds demanded of Al networking, DACs are only operational at very short ranges and need to be supplemented by active copper and optical solutions in multi-rack and cross data center setups data center setups

ACCs are twinax-based copper cables with active components – redrivers – that solve the challenge of low-power, low latency, medium range communication in data center/ Al networks. Designed for top-of-rack and close multi-rack connection, ACCs offer a cost-effective interconnect solution for 400-800G with a reach up to 7m in high speed applications

A counterpart to ACCs, AECs are retimer-based cables with specifications ratified by the HiWire consortium. AECs come with embedded clock data recovery (CDR) and gearboxing functionality providing a more robust and flexible solution than DACs for very high-speed connectivity at medium range.

AOC solutions offer a novel approach to high-speed data transmission. These active optical cables combine the benefits of transceivers and optical fibers into a single package. AOCs are available in various lengths and support data rates of 100-800G, making them suitable for short-range and high-performance applications. They eliminate the need for separate transceiver modules, reducing power consumption and simplifying installation. AOCs are an excellent choice for scenarios where rapid deployment and reliable connectivity are critical.
